How We Build Your Custom Cabinets
A-1 Custom Cabinets, as the name implies, makes your kitchen and bathroom cabinets to order. We have several cabinet styles to choose from in order to find the one that is right for your budget and your requirements. Then add cabinet accessories to bring more functionality to your kitchen. Our standard cabinet is a European style that conforms to the following specifications.
Wood Species Available for Your Custom Cabinets
- Birch
- Red Oak,
- Maple
- Cherry
- Paint-Grade Maple
Cabinet Doors & Drawer Fronts
- Frames are solid lumber, ¾” thick or thicker
- Frames are joined by either a mortise and tenon which is additionally glued/screwed, or a mitered construction which is doweled and glued
- Center panels vary in thickness and material depending on the style
- Styling that require one piece construction may be 11/16” MDF
Cabinet Drawers
- 5/8” maple sides, front and back with eased top edges; all machined to receive bottoms
- ¼” birch plywood bottoms
Drawer Suspension
- Tandem Full Extension under mounted (fully concealed) with soft close hardware
- Self adjusting, assuring proper alignment and smooth operation
- Exceptionally easy removal and replacement of drawers
- 100 lb load bearing capacity at full extension
- Some drawer accessories or unique cabinet depths may require different suspension systems
- Optional upgrade to Tandem Box in stainless steel
- Optional upgrade to all corners with dovetailed construction.
Cabinet Shelves
- ¾” thick plywood with natural birch veneer on two sides
- Natural birch veneer front edge banding
- Locking steel furniture peg shelf supports adjust in 1-¼” increments
- Wall, base and tall cabinets have full depth shelves
Finished Ends
- ¾” plywood with finished, book matched veneer or high pressure laminate
- Upgrade to decorative panels to match door style
Tops, Bottoms & Unfinished Ends
- ¾” plywood veneered on two sides
- All front case edges are laminated in a color coordinated PVC edging or matching finished veneer
Backs-Full

¼” backs are fit into machined grooves in both ends, top and bottom and fastened to all members
Cabinet Toe Kicks
- 3” deep X 4-¼” high
Cabinet Door Hinging
- Blum 110 degree European fully concealed clip on hinges
- Other hinging may be required for certain corner applications and interior options
